FOOD WASTE

what role does

play in this?

The current expiry date system does not give an accurate real time indication of when food is fresh. This results in food being wasted every day!

A solution which provides a real time indication of when products are still fresh to eat, can save up to 30% of food waste. By utilizing this label, you are actively contributing to the reduction of food waste, and thus the reduction of global carbon emissions.

the technology behind the

BIO-SENSOR

Innoscentia base their innovation on food science and two key technical enablers

As food degrades, spoilage bacteria grows in the product, in line with a well-known and predictable growth curve. As a part of their metabolism, the bacteria release gases, and these gases makes it possible to measure the spoilage level. Data shown below.

Visual Chemosensor

Innoscentia’s reactive ink is the foundation of the label’s sensory capabilities. Once calibrated in line with gas development, the ink changes it’s properties in line with the bacterial growth.

Label Build Up

To safely place a dynamic shelf life label inside a food package, Innoscentia needs to align with rules and regulations for food contact. Our labels are built to meet these requirements, which is a patentable technical innovation.
